On the verge of being "somewhat degraded". Some sketchy, very steep parts. Turned around at the "Y junction" because there was thunder in the distance and the road got very steep and lots of bigger loose rocks. Will go back and clean up all the loose rocks and make it enjoyable for other people and not worry about puncturing a tire!
The trail (not the hornaday pass trail, but a separate trail a bit farther to the south) for the obscure, and remote Mt Terrion, seems to be in very good shape. Looks like it has been brush cut recently.
Hey Ryan, what are you referring to as Nordstrum North FSR? Is it the old road that takes off West/NW at ~4 km? I have climbed Terrion but have done it from the end of the road currently plotted here. Let me know and I can add the North FSR
I walked the Nordstum Creek Road or Nordstrum North as you call it today. Left a bulletin. New to this site so just figuring out how it works. Would love to have information on how you got to top of Terrion Greg. I am also trying to access the lake below Mount Roth. Big Lake it might be called.
I am also trying to find a way to get to “Big Lake”. Rick collier climbed terrion via the “big lake” route. Apparently there is a horse trail that goes to it. Not sure if it’s from nordstrum fsr or from hornaday pass trail. I believe Greg climbed it via the SE ridge. There is a route on Gaia gps.
Sorry gents, take Nordstrum FSR all the way to end, obtain the prominent ridge north of Cummings/Wilson Creek, hike this through many ups and downs and swing around to make your way of the south aspect of Terrion. If you search "Terrion" in the "Scrambling in the Canadian Rockies" FB page, you will find Ephriam Roberts recent TR.
Ryan - i located the trail when I recced Nordstrum North FSR the other day. It is only a matter of time before I go up again to push to the lake. The terrain looks like it will make for a wonderful walk. Would you like to come with me?
Greg - thanks for the info. I'll look into it. I kinda suspected that is the route based on my research.
