As mentioned by previous poster, road is passable right up to the new cut block at about 5-6km up Kate Creek. Road becomes very rough around km 3 and the very end before the new cut block only passable by quad or motorcycle

This road does still lead to the old stretch of trail for Sugar Mountain but the area was logged and the trail ended up being demolished, though you can still connect to a new stretch of forest road from it. From there you need to follow the new logging road until you find the entrance to the trail again.
The road starts off a bit rough but passable. I believe this is the trail to reach the Sugar Mountain lookout but I turned around when the trail became pretty narrow and was snow covered.
