Road gets progressively looser and rockier as you move up the mountain. Would recommend AWD as the road surface gets quite steep, gravelly, and loose. Some chunky loose rocks to avoid as well. Did still make it to the Kitchener trailhead in a front-wheel drive with moderate clearance though.
