Susan Lake FSR - Bulletin
Sean Caulfield reported on: Aug 04, 2023
Susan Peak summit spur is even more overgrown but maybe if you really don't care about your vehicle's paint job you could drive it?
Parking just below Susan Peak summit spur (1.5km, 120m gain to the lookout).
Free car wash on route to Susan Peak fire lookout, shortly after leaving main Susan Lake FSR. Note big puddle ahead
Drove this road from Bush River Road / Blackwater Creek Rec Site for approx. 9.5km to branch for Susan Peak Fire Lookout. Main FSR seems reasonably well travelled to the Rec Site / Lake + is not bushy at all. There were a couple steep hills with some deep ruts, but any AWD SUV would've been fine, 2wd sedan would struggle but can probably make it with aggressive driver + good line choice. The branch toward the peak/lookout is narrow + bushy with one small shallow creek/puddle to cross 200m before the final summit spur. The last 1.5km of old road to the lookout is now so grown in it has become an alder tunnel / ATV track but it was easy walking.

Thanks Sean, I drew in the two roads you mentioned. I'm not sure why the BC data set didn't have them! Also, I take it the Bull River FSR was in normal shape too?
@Francis, Bush River FSR is basically a highway, very wide well-graded dirt road. Signs saying to call your KMs over VHF radio, but I saw or heard no industrial traffic on August long weekend.
