Road Bulletins
The road is passable with a stock high-clearance 4x4 vehicle, but conditions are rough and progress is very, very slow. Expect numerous small washouts and significant bumpiness, especially between the switchbacks and the James Creek Falls Recreation Site (just southwest of Greyback Lake). The road is better suited to dirt bikes and quads, and sees frequent use by both.
The portion of road connecting Greyback Lake to the 201 (Okanagan Falls Forest Service Road) is in very good condition and can be driven with 2WD.
For better access to Greyback Lake or James Creek Falls, it’s recommended to approach from the south via Beaverdell Road onto Okanagan Falls Forest Service Road (201). Although this route may be longer, it will likely be faster and far less punishing.

We drove as far as the Canyon Lakes FSR and found the road in perfect condition!
