Looks like there was some machinery up here recently, probably from when they were fixing Kookipi. Lots of rockfall, some narrow deep cross ditches (scraped my hitch on 2 of them) then there's the biggest deactivation I've ever seen at KM2.25. Quite a nice waterfall here though. I cycled (mostly pushed uphill) another ~4km on the road, one other major blown out creek but otherwise easy travel on MTB. You will not get a dirt bike down the first deactivation, even a heavy E-MTB will be difficult. I recommend a hardtail MTB if you want to hike The Nipple from this side. You will likely need a HC 4x4 to make it to the deactivation, or else a smaller SUV with good approach/departure angles.
