According to post in the 4WDABC Facebook group there is a locked gate near the entrance off of Highway 7 and a new unofficial looking sign posted that restricts public access as of July 1, 2024. No more details are known at this time.

Thanks for the update! I added a gate marker on the map now. It looks like there's planned logging in the area, but maybe they're accessing it from American Creek FSR
