Updated to reflect corrected road. Essentially the ends are usually passable while the center section (~ km3 : km5) becomes wet at the slightest breath of water. There is a reasonably busy gas facility based out of km2 so if heading up to Thunder Mountain odds of encountering traffic are much lower on the south end of the road.
Lower part of the road headed to the Thunder Mountain fire tower. The closer section to Hwy 52 is generally fine, but past the 2km mark drainage is poor and it can take 3-4 days to recover from a rainfall. Technically usually passable for most vehicles if you're willing to use the loud pedal, but not suitable for e.g larger RVs at that point.
