[From Ryan Clinton] - A few weeks ago we went up Alice Ridge to Diamond head, this is a good alternative to going via Elfin lakes. Not necessarily shorter though but possibly nicer. We approached via e-bike up the Mashiter trail but going from Alice lake would also work well. Basically head up the Mad Hatter mountain bike trail on Trailforks but don't turn left there, keep going straight. After about a km more the road is washed out but a good path remains. The path goes for about a km and then the road is fine again until about 1330m where the alder gets thicker, this is where we left the road.
