Road Bulletins
Paul Schrimpf reported on: Apr 04, 2026
Road is getting overgrown (expect pin-striping), but road surface is smooth. It was no problem in a small AWD hatchback to 810m, where we were stopped by snow. There was enough snow for skiing from about 900m. Melting fast though. Lots of alder poking through the snow around the 5km-6km.
Joe John reported on: Nov 09, 2025
Road condition is same as previously reported. Current snowline is ~1200m. We were able to drive to 1370m without chains
Katie Vallis reported on: Sep 11, 2025
Made it to the sun god TH in a Honda CRV. Some small cross ditches, a couple medium deep ones near the TH but they are wide so I made it ok. Scraped the hitch a couple times but the road surface was generally ok, some boulders but my medium clearance was enough. The alders are encroaching the last few kms, definitely pinstriping. The beginning of the road isn't too bad but it gets progressively worse towards the TH
Roxy Bauer reported on: May 25, 2025
Can drive to end of road; the pinstriping and alders are getting dense.
David Sutanto reported on: May 01, 2025
Short icy snow patch will stop most vehicles at around 3.4km (1040m elevation), but road is then generally bare for another couple of km before continuous snow starts. Up to where we stopped, road would be passable by medium clearance SUVs. Minor pinstriping.
Kay Cahill reported on: Sep 03, 2024
A few waterbars that require some clearance, and a few rough/loose spots, but the road is still good to go to the end in an SUV or crossover. We made it without difficulty in an older model Ford Escape with a good driver. Much brushier than this time last year, expect some Savile Row level pinstriping.
Stefan Feller reported on: Aug 14, 2024
The road may be passable by high clearance. 4WD not needed. However, it is extremely brushy. A brush tunnel will occur near the end. Lots of scratches will appear on your car.
SWBC Peak Baggers reported on: Apr 16, 2024
[From John-Graham Kelly] - Snow starts at an unfortunate 900m. Only a few dry patches up to 1000m. Consistent snow after that all the way and about 400cm deep. Will likely be a month until it’s clear most of the way.
SWBC Peak Baggers reported on: Feb 03, 2024
[From Sean Patterson] - Tenas Crk FSR remains snowed in from the turnoff with Birkenhead. Despite very hard crusted snow we still couldn’t get much further than 1.5km up Tenas FSR even with chains. So we had to accept defeat and start walking.
The heavily crusted snow allowed us to basically walk the length of the road with no spikes or snowshoes.
Cody Boyes reported on: Oct 02, 2023
A bit rough in spots but water bars are not too bad. Watched an old school outback with a Hitch make it to the top of the road with a bit of scraping from the hitch. Alders are definitely starting to encroach on the road in some spots.
Sean Caulfield reported on: Jun 04, 2023
Road is bushy but if you go slow shouldn't get too many pinstripes. I walked in front of the truck & did some alder clipping above elevation ~1,275m. Some small waterbars but we saw a Mazda 3 which had made it to approx. 1,300m. Parked at Sun God/7pm trailhead.
