Description

New Borden FSR links up with the original Borden FSR at ~780m in elevation. It can be used to access the upper sections of Borden FSR now that the bridge is out on the original road. With a high clearance 4x4 one can drive to within a few kilometers of the summit of Mcguire

Driveable for my Subaru Forester up till the collapsed bridge at 920m. One of the cross ditches was a bit of a challenge. A few scrapes from encroaching brush. Road surface was pretty good for another 1.5 km beyond the creek crossing, then became very degraded and narrow.

Pretty much the same condition as my previous report. Heavy frost but no snow coverage. Lots of new flagging and markings on the road which I assume has to do with possibly a new cutblock up this way.

I found this road to be in relatively decent condition besides the washout. The road base was solid for the majority and the alder wasn't too scratchy. I didn't find the washout to be a major challenge however, it is certainly narrow. I don't see this washout posing a problem for a med clearance AWD vehicle if you take your time and maybe have a spotter.

As mentioned in other bulletins on Borden FSR, there's a large section of road that has washed away down a steep embankment. It's around 650m in elevation or ~3.5km in. There is more space on the road than first appears, but I had a spotter just in case. The road is low clearance 4WD up to this point, but you will need HC to get through after. I could foresee this section washing out permanently in the coming years if there's enough rainfall.
