Went up and found road to be heavily waterbared. But road is in best condition I’ve seen it in years. I took my 2005 ford ranger 2WD with 3” lift and had no issues.
Same old Cheam FSR now covered in a blanket of snow. Found enough snow accumulation to change driving conditions at KM 1.5. Snow is very wet and heavy right now and once compacted is very slick. If you aren't getting first tracks up expect the hills to be a challenge. I was not able to make it up the hill up to KM 3 without chains. However, a 4x4 group was able to make it up to the trailhead with some more effort. If you're skiing up, the hills at KM 1.5-2 and KM 2.75-3 both have fairly good flat spots to park at the bottom if you cant make it up.
Major washouts appear to be fixed. Cross ditches seem to be more numerous and sharper than in previous years. Made it stock Forester with a (moderately) upgraded tires without drama - but it took some time (~1h20 from the asphalt). Aired down though. HC4x4 will make it faster but forester, rav4 etc is sufficient at this point.
[From Des Iree] - Mount Cheam Forest Service Road is being graded for the next 5 days. Pick another trail for the weekend to avoid disappointment but then after that who might go adventure up to the top of Mt. Cheam?! Go before the snow!
