Road Bulletins
Walked 4.5km portion from Widgeon Creek Camp to just after it crosses Widgeon Creek (Fools Gold route). In good shape for biking, hardtail or better recommended but even gravel bike ok apart from a few washed out culverts. Narrower after Hanging Creek Falls which has new upgraded footbridge since the last time I was up here. Main trail continues straight for Widgeon Lake, this "road" becomes very overgrown & bridge across Widgeon Creek is exteremly sketchy, reminded me of the A1100 bridge to Chimai but worse. There were 2 support beams remaining, one on the left was in mid-air on west side but supported midspan by a boulder in the creek, best I could tell this was supporting the other beam on the right which didn't seem to be resting on anything much on west side but it was strapped to the left beam. Fording the creek didn't look too hard but I decided to keep feet dry, take my chances with the right beam & crossed quickly. I'm typing this so I didn't die. Cross with extreme caution.
Biked to ~200m before the bridge crossing Widgeon Creek. Once leaving Widgeon Lake trail becomes overgrown. The bridge is in.
