[From Matt Juhasz] - decided to check out the access driveway I scoped on google years ago (today’s route was one of two viable day-trip routes I outlined for this peak on google; second one, suitable for summer/fall is an undulating alpine approach from the high mining road at the east end of this range). I had no idea if this “driveway” was private property. Indeed, google shows a structure a little ways in, which turned out to be merely some storage tanks. The driveway kept advancing up the mountainside and we stopped at ~2.5km in
Hey Tim, this is just the website account I use to post on behalf of people who don't want to share directly with the site, so he won't receive any notifications. I don't think Matt checked that road out on his trip. However, last year I called the district office for the Elkin Creek road which River Guard branches from and the site engineer mentioned that they had driven as far as Tchaikzen Valley and all bridges were in good shape. I think it's quite likely you will make it to the start.
