This road has significantly become worse since the time of Seans report. The alder has grown in over the road a lot and the road would be a slow drive even in a HC 4x4. A couple washouts to navigate Water has been running down the road for a lot of the first half eroding one side. You could shave off a couple KMs driving to the last washout. However, the driving would be so slow and harsh on your vehicle I think it was easier and faster walking in from the Tulameen FSR as we did.
Same issues seen as in the report from last year but with another year's worth of degradation. Considerable increase in alder growth right from the start.
Minor mudslide at 650m passable by any vehicle with half decent clearance (crossover should be ok). Major washout at KM1 - steep rocky creek at a sharp bend, needs high clearance for sure & short wheelbase preferred. Skid plates & rock sliders also advisable. Washout at KM2 even more difficult, would need some work to get any vehicle through. Good turnaround/parking areas at 650m and 1km. Felt it was worth driving up the road to shorten hike into Illal Meadows, road is starting to get overgrown but alders weren't very scratchy (yet). If you don't want to take a vehicle up this road then it would be easy biking & there's thick bush to hide/stash bikes around the clearing at KM3. Road (trail) not suitable for biking past this but easy hiking.
