Drove the Van Horlick Creek FSR to access Snowspider yesterday. Road is in excellent condition to the Morris Creek branch around 9 km. A few potholes and filled-in waterbars, but no problems. Beyond this junction, the road slowly deteriorates. The waterbars appear at 9 km and become more frequent with distance travelled. Plus, the alder is encroaching significantly the farther you drive If you worry about your paint, this will be an issue. Took the road to 13.6 km, the junction with the Snowspider East Spur, and turned off there.

OMG salvation! Water bars have been filled in! Not sure how far this is true. But I only added this update to ~6km

Not sure if this is because of a new cutblock or what, but seems like someone wanted this road to be drivable without a million annoying cross ditches, so I'm happy!

Yeah I'm on the edge of medium due to water bars but I'll keep it as is for now

Getting close to "somewhat degraded" conditions with lots of waterbars of various depth.
Small rockslide close to the end - was easy passable in Tacoma.

Very easy road for any car with medium clearance. No 4x4 needed. Road starting to get a bit grown in towards the end

Deactivated intentionally with moderate water bars. 2WD medium clearance ("a crossover") should be fine. worst part is the non-water-bar parts of the road are great so you can get baited into speeding up and getting surprised, so take it easy

Used to access Gideon Peak. Lots of small but relatively deep waterbars. A rockslide over the road about 500m from the end, that is no issue for HC 4wd vehicles (unless it gets worse), but lower ground clearance vehicles likely won't make it. Road looks deactivated.
