Starting to wash out higher up
Snow line at 1600m
Lots of sections like this. No problem in a truck or suv, but unlikely a smaller vehicle is getting through
There was a gate just past the start of the road that was locked this morning, which forced us to come in from Cheakamus River a few kilometer's up. On the way back, the gate was open and is apparently always open. So this might be to prevent campers? Either way, after the permanently closed gate at the 4.5km mark the road is steep, getting overgrown and would be doable in a stock truck, but unlikely a car could do it. Snow line started at ~1600m, so almost at the end of the road. The upper road is starting to wash out in several places and a few sections are tricky with big boulders

Gate at 5km
No motorized vehicles past the gate - Entering Garibaldi Park
No motorized access past 5km
Road is in great condition! 2wd friendly. Some steeps but just take your time. Smooth sailing in 4x4.
Gate at 5km with plenty of room to turn around. Lots of parking at Loggers Lake.

Can't speak for the condition past the gate, but it should be in good condition as well. No motorized vehicles passed the gate as you enter Garibaldi Park.

The road currently has about 30–40 cm of snow on it. We were able to drive up to around 2.7 km, the second parking area, but this requires a high-clearance 4x4 with lockers. Most people were turning around at 1.5 km, at the first parking lot for the Whistler Interpretive Forest. It’s easy to get stuck if you drive off the track, as the snow is faceted under a melt-freeze crust.

Just a reminder: the road is closed to motorized traffic after 4.6 km, including snowmobiles. Although the gate is currently shown as being at 3.5 km, it’s actually at 4.6 km, just at the fork of Cheakamus River 07.

The road above the gate has a few brushy spots, but nothing significant. All the bridges are in place, making for good ski touring. There are only two open creek crossings in the snow, both of which were easy to cross.

[From Dan Cudlip] - The entire road is seriously rough shape. It basically felt like I was peddling up a dried up River bed the entire time. It took a little under 2 hours to get up, and I started pretty close to the highway. I didn’t really enjoy the climb that much… basically becuase the looseness of the road made it super annoying. Even with the ebike I had to walk several sections. When I got to the top I was ready to declare that this route is total b*llshit and I’m never doing it again
