Water running across the road
General road condition near the pass
Getting overgrown
Another section of pooling water
Start of the road
I drove in from Shovel Creek/Harrison side. A few sections where water is washing out the road and pooling. Also a fair amount of pin striping and general degradation. The road improves the closer you get to Kookipi 400 after which you can tell significant road work is underway. Only drove to the 400 turn off though.

[From Sean R] - Kookipi remains closed. While the contractor is making special efforts to allow workers through the 3-4 km construction zone, this is by prior special arrangement. Over the next couple of weeks, blasting will be ongoing, and excavation for large culvert installs will be taking place. In addition to the gate (which is unfortunately being vandalized by members of the off-road community), there will be portions of road entirely missing. If you are making it over from East Harrison, be aware that you will be turned back at the site - and as a courtesy to the workers, please turn around at the 6700 landing rather than coming right into the active construction area.

The gated bridge to Kookipi
As far as Andrew drove down
[From Andrew Enns] - I decided to drive up to the start of Kookipi, and to my amazement, the gate was wide open. I drove up as far as I could, which was just about halfway to the turnoff to the west fork of Kookipi Creek (second photo). If I had my Jeep, I could have presumably gone much further, but there were rocks on the road that would have taken me at least 30 minutes to move to get my car through, plus it was getting late. Was pretty neat to see all the work that has been done on the road - in some places the entire road had to be completely rebuilt and blasted into the hillside as the creek had washed huge sections away in the 2021 floods. I took some photos, but somehow they got corrupted. It was pretty smooth too, with no waterbars. We'll see how it holds up over the rest of the winter. No equipment that I could find anywhere - I'm guessing it's been pulled from the area for the winter. The road is apparently still closed and the blockade at the 6km mark is still presen

Even bikes require some work to get past this
The barricade
Southern section in good conditions
[From James Wilson] - Kookipi is in good condition until a major barricade ~10km before the Nahatlatch junction. This barricade was deliberately place by road crews as there are still significant repairs ongoing. Access to Nahatlatch is still not possible. There is a gate at the river crossing that is normally closed but was left open during the fire evacuations. Do not expect the gate to remain unlocked.
