Road Bulletins
New gate added at highway according to post on the 4WDABC Facebook Group.
Approximate location: 49.671013, -121.419037
The gate was put up by Spuzzum First Nation in response to illegal dumping and homeless squatting. The gate is not sanctioned by the Chilliwack Natural Resource District.
Chilliwack Natural Resource District says:
"Government policy supports maintaining free public access to resource roads on Crown land. While access restrictions are not intended to prevent public or organizational use, they are currently necessary in the Spuzzum drainage to address public safety and natural resource concerns. Extensive road repairs are expected to commence in the coming months with works lasting well several months possibly into next year.
The District Manager is collaborating with other Ministries and local First Nations to develop a long-term strategy that supports access for all users."

Road still washed at KM 3. A quad could get around, but nothing bigger than that. Unfortunately the washout, which goes all the way down to Spuzzum Creek, is being used as a garbage chute. 🤬 Also, looking at Google Earth at the road beyond, there appear to be additional, and likely much larger, washouts lurking ahead. Unfortunately, the logging that was scheduled to happen further up the road that would have seen this washout fixed has been indefinitely postponed due to spotted owl habitat.
