Similar conditions to David Sutanto's report from Nov 12, 2025. The road gets a lot rougher past the second gate, around 1.75 km from the turn off at Mamquam FSR. We parked at 2.9 km where the road forks. Snow started around 3.5 km but without snow we probably could have driven to the last switchback around 3.75 km.
We drove a Nissan X-Trail with AWD and winter tires. There were a few steep sections with loose rock that we were able to climb but it was close to the limit of what you could do without a high clearance 4x4.
Traffic controller stationed at the beginning of the road, asking where we were going, they are letting hikers through. First gate open. Road in excellent condition up to around 1.8km, looks like it's been improved for construction.
At 1.8km there's a junction. There is a second gate, but this is across the right fork to 'Ray Basin 1' - they are not letting people past this gate. However, the left fork (up to Mulligan and Anif) is ungated - the road is rougher past this point, we just made it in an SUV with a little scraping, a 4WD would have been more comfortable.
Seems like ongoing construction. There was a truck posted at the start and signage on the road. The truck was gone when we passed by around 6 pm.
Able to drive to almost 3.5km (820m elevation) in Ford Escape before some deeper snow. 2wd likely unable to get much past the parking lot at ~1.7 km.
[From Sea2Sky District] - As of March 10, 2025, access to Mount Mulligan is open to the public via Ray Basin Road (turn-off at 6.5km on Mamquam River FSR). Drive with caution and expect industrial traffic. Ray Basin Road is gated at 1.5km, after the turn-off to Mount Mulligan. Please park in the designated parking area at the Mount Mulligan turn-off or on the road shoulder in a safe location.
Road still closed completely. Can not drive, ski or sled up this way.
Entrance to Ray Basin FSR off of Mamquam FSR, This was on a friday about noon. Closed for pipeline work.
Good 4x4 condition to the washout at 920m elevation. There is room enough to turn around and one or two spots on the side of the road to park down from that. Note the washout is at 49.69485,-123.07235, a bit lower than shown on this map. Also, there is a spot at 745m elev. 49.699308,-123.077865 where there is a new-ish spur, I have seen vehicles park here in the past but now there is a no parking sign.
