Road Bulletins

Mamquam South Mainline in good condition for any car up to the junction with Emain, about km 26 (posted signs on road). No point in driving further if going up to the Dunkeld peak area.
Karl Strathearn reported on: Sep 20, 2025
Similar as the last post very overgrown and has a washout that is at the time currently passable and then the section of bridge with the sink hole.
Tanja Schnabel reported on: Sep 01, 2025
Overgrown and rough from 5km to 6.3km. Sinkhole with wobbly tree logs at 6.3km. Might loose your car if you go further
David Matson reported on: Jun 22, 2025
Drivable for pretty much any vehicle to the bridge at 1.3 km, which requires a bit of clearance. Decent condition all the way to the E Main turn off.
Paul Schrimpf reported on: Jan 12, 2025
Drivable snow. My car was stopped by the depth of snow ruts about 1km from E-100. Vehicles with higher clearance had driven up E-100 to around 1000m.
Francis Bailey reported on: Aug 17, 2024
Decent condition up to the E-Main/E-100 turn off. Afterwards the road closes in and looks quite narrow
Hh Crerar reported on: May 17, 2024
Driveable (4wd) with some potholes to turnoff between 3.5km and 4km. Past that it's still driveable for a few hundred metres with some mild pinstriping and rocky sections.

There is a washout at the 4.5km mark that will stop all vehicles except quads/bikes. There are two more washouts at 5km and 5.8km. Past around 5.8km alders will stop any off road vehicle.

Road is drivable by a 4WD, SUVs or even 2WD up until the spur to Seed Peak. Only after this point is when it is heavy cross ditched and access is extremely difficult - as per earlier reports.

The road is for the adventurous. The start is a little overgrown but not much. There is one deep ditch passable in a short to medium wheel base 4x4. I did it in a stock 3rd gen 4runner. Then there is one half bridge, half logs and half dirt. After the just a few rough spots up to Dunkeld trail head.
