Road Bulletins
The road is in okay condition. No waterbars or cross ditches however the switchbacks are fairly steep and a bit loose, a 2WD pickup may have a bit of trouble. Then the road is in pretty good shape to the old ski hill.
There is no trespassing signs at the gate however, as you can see there is a bypass for ATVs and such. Plenty of ATV trails beyond the gate. There is a few cabins just beyond the gate who I assume the signs were put up by.

[From Tiger Lu] - There was some snow on the FSR after Sunshine Village, but we were able to drive to the locked gate, after which we walked on the road for 1.4 kilometers before turning to the left into the forest.
Once leaving the Sumallo FSR and getting onto the spur road the initial switchbacks near the start have ruts in the road. Honda CRV had minor scraping so SUV clearance will help. Car your probably walking. No waterbars. Only drove it for 2km and didn't goto the ski lift because we then started up another spur road.
