Road Description

Access road to The Old Settler and Daiphy Lake area. The gate has historically been closed and required contact with the logging company to gain access. In more recent times it has been found opened or unlocked, but the timing of that is not certain.

Sign at the start states active logging 24x7, no entry. We found the gate closed but unlocked. Road in good condition up to the spur for Old Settler (at ~ 8km). Road has obviously seen some recent work. We passed some industrial vehicles on the way in but didn't see any activity (although we could hear chainsaws going across the valley when we parked).
On the way out the gate was still closed but unlocked with a note to let the campground host know we were out. Apparently another group had found the gate locked and had to walk to the campground to get the key. And thankfully arranged to the leave the gate unlocked for us.

Kelly's memory is fading! Gate stuff is correct, gate locatioon is right over the creek at the start if you wanna add that in

Not sure exactly where it goes from green to orange, but this is my best guess. There is one water bar that made me kiss my hitch, which means it's definitely not okay for low clearance vehicles. At least sedans, and departure/approach will matter to avoid bumper damage. Otherwise, yeah, in good shape, they're doing active work up there

Typical conditions
Snow beyond kilometre 8
The creek washing out at kilometre 5
Snow free up to kilometre 8. There’s one creek at kilometre 5 or so that’s starting to wash out quite quickly. It’s close to being too large for something like a cross trek. No problem in a truck though. Otherwise not bad condition and still no get in site at the beginning

Very smooth lower down
Not quite as smooth higher up but still easy travel & fine for almost any vehicle.
Good condition, a low-clearance Subaru Impreza wagon didn't make it past the water bar mentioned in the previous report, which is around 2km before the turnoff for the spur to Old Settler. Water bar should be passable in any SUV or crossover even, other than that road is in good shape, although like Alex mentioned the are a couple spots (one in particular with a waterfall running over the road) where it could degrade quickly or wash out. No bush, so you won't get any pinstripes.

It appears the gate has been entirely removed, we did not encounter it. The road is currently in great shape and would probably be 2wd driveable to the old settler spur except for one minor waterbar. However there are a few active landslides and places where water flows over the road, so it could rapidly deteriorate over another winter or two

Posted on Elise's behalf: "road was unlocked and it was good up to the last little bit [before the trail up to Daiphy Lake]. [Sean] was able to drive his truck all the way to the end".
