There were fallen trees over the road which had been cut by someone luckily, that didn't seem to be that many waterbars but the road bed is fairly loose rocks what are somewhat pointy. Pretty steep road so a basic SUV might be pretty hard on the transmission. Straight forward 4x4 HC road the end. Surprised this is the first road report of 2026.
The worst water bar is prob the 2nd one after the first switchback around 0.75 km. Scraped my skid plate going up. A lot easier to see and pick a line coming back down and had no issues in my Pilot. Water bars are mostly at the lower levels. Made it to the end.
5-10cm of snow on road at turn-off from Soo mainline, increasing with elevation. Two Tacomas with chains made it up to about 850m. Managed to ski out almost all the way back to the mainline.
Road is in good condition, steep in places and has lots of drainage ditches. AWD or better recommended. A 2wd could make it but make sure you have a bit of clearance for the drainage ditches.
A logging crew had plowed the road up to the 2km mark for their heli operation. The road beyond had around 20-30cm of snow. With chains you may be able to drive to the end as the snow was quite airy
[From Tareef Dedhar] - Road was icier than Wednesday, stopped at 1150m due to traction loss, even with chains on my front tires. Probably could've made it if I also aired down but it wasn't worth the time hassle. Road hike was trivial, we followed a combination of my old ski tracks and some snowshoe tracks that deviated slightly from them to the 1600m lake, where tracks ended.
