Description

According to Chris Jamieson, the Pennask Lake Lodge and Hatheume Lake Resort have full time live in care takers, so they split the cost of plowing that road periodically through the winter. That is referring to the section of Bear Lake FSR from Highway 97c until the lodges.

I only drove the first few kilometers but I could see for a long stretch from the summit of Blue Grouse and it was snow free as far as I could see.

[From BC Gov] - road closed at 8km due to a washout. At least one month before repairs. See: https://www.castanet.net/news/West-Kelowna/541592/Drive-BC-post-suggests-Bear-Creek-Main-FSR-could-be-closed-for-at-least-a-month

After exiting Hwy 97c and getting onto Bear Lake FSR it was mainly snow free with the odd thin section in shaded areas. We drove 4.10km and parked at the spur road right below Pennask Mountain.

Road is known as Sunset Main on many sources. Plowed to at least 4.5 km north of Pennask Mtn. Not sure if this plowing is for every winter or only applicable for the time being.
