Major road washouts throughout. Drove to ~2.2km today and found a spot to turn around. Tree across road, and 3-4ft deep water ruts. (Running in line with the road) we opted to hike the rest of the way to the lookout. If you can make it past ~2.7km the roads actually in decent shape up there.
As others have said, the cross ditch/ruts at 550m will make this road impassable for most SUVs. Anything 4x4 with clearance will be okay, and after this point, while the road is still rough, you should be fine to the FM2 junction (and all of FM2 as well).
There is plenty of light bush along the road that will scrape your vehicle. I don't think anything would have caused pinstripes in the current state, it's mostly just brushing past.
Made it to the end of FM2 in my Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk no problem, but did use 4Low at the cross ditch, and Hill Descent Control was very nice to have coming down that bit. A spotter helps for sure too.
All in all, I wouldn't even bother trying this road in an SUV, you won't make it and turning back will be a pain.
First 500m ok with 2wd, AWD/2WD should park here. At KM1 there is a hill (10-12° steep) with some big dips & bumps. 4-lo recommended. A Ford Bronco didn't make it up this hill (driver error) but with careful line choice most 4WD trucks should be ok (was totally fine in my CCLB Frontier with open diffs). Getting bushy above the hill, I didn't drive the last km today, instead took "FM2".
Road as definitely seen better days. Few large washouts to compete with, Tacomas and Jeeps will be able to walk though them. Medium clearance awd vehicles may need a spotter and some nerves of steel. Luckily the hardest washout is the first. If you can make it past there you can probably make it all the way. If not there is a large pullout at 500m.
[From Drew Allenby] - It was pretty sketchy on the second switchback but everything else was good. A few deactivations did a number on my front under tray and hitch
