Easy driving, no offroad vehicle needed. Gate @ 30.5km is open, but proceed at your own risk, the sign says “gate locked any time!”
Shoei Itakura reported on: Jul 26, 2025
Gate was open july 26th but after passing abit the road that leads to the north was overgrown
Thomas Cheney reported on: Jul 12, 2025
Drivable with 2WD, some loose shot rock in areas. The road has some loose material so watch out for limited traction through km 16. Gets a rougher, after km 16-27.
Caro Coco reported on: Apr 26, 2025
Road is in great condition, some potholes and some recent grading with sharp rocks. A sedan was parked on the side of the road by the Skewllepil Rec Site. Saw a BMW and a Mercedes sedans driving up at km 17. The gate at km 30-ish was closed and locked.
Oleg Ku reported on: Mar 29, 2025
Good conditions, lots of fresh logging after the gate.
Some sedans made it to Skwellepil camp entrance - parked on the road, not down ;)
Gate was open, the yellow sign has still recognizable warning about "locked anytime".
Evan Kozlik reported on: Mar 09, 2025
Road in extremely great shape up to the 12km mark. Potholes become more prevalent after this point but are manageable with 2wd vehicles. From km marker 17-18 the road is in somewhat bad condition due to washouts and erosion. Rest of the way up is similar to other roads in the region, potholes and gravel etc. very nice view of the lake at the 28km mark. Shout out to the Buddha statue at the 1.5 km mark
