Road Bulletins
Backroad Status reported on: Nov 20, 2025
Major washout is being reported on the road due to a penstock failure at the hydro power plant. The watersprite trail is not currently accessible.

Similar to my last update, but no more mud. Just some large potholes/ruts beyond that washout that require attentive driving. I do believe the lower road (not marked on most maps) avoids some, but not all, so the same "most any crossover" requirement still apllies

Road is in decent shape. Near the start is a small water bar (or just a depression dug in for non-drainage reasons) that is liable to crunch a bumper for a sedan or smth

In the last couple kms is a muddy section which you'll want crossover clearance for (decently deep ruts for a few metres), but I expect that will get better once the snowmelt is gone and things flatten out from traffic.

A couple small snow patches but nothing deep that posed an issue in the morning or afternoon

[From Ron Tse] - three cars were with us, two cars got stuck about 3km from trailhead. Only one car made it to the end. Still lots of snow.

[From Dylan Aaron] - Went to watersprite over the weekend. Road is very snowy (60+ CMS) but we were able to get out with chains in a forester. Parked about 2.5 kms from the trailhead at the skookum generating station.
Ilia Poznak reported on: Feb 03, 2024
The road leading to the Watersprite summer route's trailhead has suffered a washout 2km before reaching the trailhead.
