Road Bulletins
We parked at the bottom by the railroad tracks and skinned up this road. It seems to be mostly used by snowmobiles in the winter. The road is snow covered and smooth, but there are many loose rocks that the snowmobiles stir up on their way up the hill that would damage your ski bases if you skied down. There were a few cars parked at the switchback at 49.9693,-123.1666. An AWD car with good winter tires could drive to here. Beyond that there is a sign that says snow machines only, no cars or ATV's. After the Roe junction (49.9682,-123.1792) the road was still groomed and there were no rocks on the road anymore. Most snowmobile traffic seems to go up Roe Creek road. The road is groomed to the end of the clearcut at 49.9666,-123.2128. Beyond that the road has those continuous annoying waves caused by heavy snowmobile traffic. We skinned a short way up the Chance Tricouni spur. Despite it being a weekend we didn't see or hear any snowmobiles beyond the Roe junction.
Road is drivable in an AWD to 1050m where the heavy bush starts. Today the snow started at 600m and we chained up at 800m (in a Subie) and made it easily to 1050m. There was 20cm on the road for the last 1km.
Good condition to about 4 km. Lots of smoke coming from the piles. Reported and turned around.
Up to 1000m/8.75km in, road is very wide and well graded, very easy travel for most cars. Past that it's quite degraded with a lot of large unavoidable rocks, F150 territory, clearance over entry/exit angles for that part, light pinstriping the whole way. Only takes 35 mins to hike to the trailhead for Tricouni from 1000m.
We drove with a 2WD car with snow tires. Because of the snow/ice on the road, we stopped driving at 2.5km from the entrance instead of 5.0km where the Chance Creek FSR branches out. We stopped at one steep section with snow where I was not confident so I didn't want to push further and get stuck. A 4x4 should have no problem.
Except for the snow/ice, Chance Creek FSR looked in good shape. There was a small water bar that is possible to travel because it's only on the left side of the road. At 800m elevation, there is a large tree trunk on the left branch and there is a sign saying that the road further has been deactivated permanently.
On the right branch, there is a gate with a sign "ACTIVE MINING. Do not enter. Other than an Inspector authorized by the Manager ... or be permitted to enter..." Bellarock Enterprise 604-815-1323

Snow started at 800m, we drove to 1000m in 4x4 without putting on chains or airing down and could ski from our parking.
[From Tareef Dedhar] - drove to 800m where the road forks off to the Roe C-600 Spur (Cloudburst Branch). No issues getting this far.
Road is in pretty good condition to about 1000m elevation - we made it in a Subaru forester. Beyond that you can drive up with a high clearance 4x4 (we did indeed see at truck at the trailhead) at about 1350m elevation.
