We drove up on Sunday, June 14, 2026. The gate to Cogburn looked closed & locked but if you go up to it, it opens. We opened it and closed it behind us. The road conditions are good. Our Pontiac Vibe made it up to the turnoff at BR2500. We didn't drive further down Cogburn FSR so I can't say what the road conditions are like past the 13.5km mark.
Was out for a casual rip up East Harrison and noticed the gate at the start of Cogburn Creek FSR was open after having been re-closed for new logging in August 2025, had no signage indicating any active industrial activity and had no padlock anywhere to be found, so I headed up. The road is largely unchanged condition-wise up to the start of Charles Creek FSR at approximately 13.75 KMs, other than some areas are starting to see some alders starting to grow up on the side of the road. Per tire tracks and signage I observed, the aforementioned and now-completed logging that closed the road last summer took place somewhere up the NF1 road that leaves the main FSR at approximately 3.7 KM. I also continued down the main FSR beyond the Charles Creek FSR turnoff, but only went about 2 KMs or so due to time constraints, but it had no major obstructions.

Gate was open around 3 PM. Was just passing by. Didn't go up.
I drove from KM0 - Branch 2500. Road was in pretty good condition. With a few minor rocks as Sean has mentioned as well as a log almost across the road which you can see in the photo. If the tree were to fall onto the road I don't think anything with high clearance would have a problem driving over it. Or, it looks like it could easily be rolled to the side if not. Started on this road around 6AM and left around 4PM. Gate was open and didn't see any signs of active logging also didn't hear anyone on the RR or LADD channels. I think its safe to assume they don't lock the gate at 3PM anymore.
Gate is still open as of May 1st, We drove main Cogburn Creek FSR the full 16km up until where it forks. We took the left fork into a recent cutblock where I gave an update on EH61-1 road.
[From Steven Song] - adding his 2022 report. The road was in good condition, but gated as there was an active heli logging operation going on. They apparently operate 7 days a week and were not happy about hikers/climbers entering the area at all. That may have changed since then.
